Research interests

I am broadly interested in the neural and neurochemical mechanisms that govern adaptive decision-making and behavioral flexibility. My research aims to understand how synaptic plasticity and neuromodulatory systems within cortico-striatal circuits, particularly opioid and dopaminergic signaling, modulate outcome valuation and behavioral control. I am especially interested in how disruptions in these processes impair the integration of predictive and reward-related information, leading to the emergence of compulsive and maladaptive behaviors. By exploring how specific neural populations coordinate action selection, my work seeks to uncover the circuit- and cellular-level mechanisms underlying flexible behavior and its breakdown in conditions such as addiction and neuropsychiatric disorders.
